I never used to do this. You see, I was a doer. I did everything all of the time. Not because I had to, but because I felt it was my duty. I have always been a strong, independent woman, even when I was at my worst with Fibromyalgia. Part of my problem was that I done did myself all the way to the sick house. Now, I make time throughout my day to step back and appreciate the moment. These moments, regardless of how small they are, bring me immense enjoyment.
I allow myself a few minutes to step away from the cares of the day whenever I see fit and just enjoy the moment. Taking a break like this helps revitalize me and gives me the energy to continue throughout my day. We are not machines designed to go, go, go. That is not how God designed us. We all require time to revitalize ourselves several times a day.
I choose to take time out of my day, even if that means making alternate arrangements to make this possible. I value this time and take care to refrain from minimizing its importance. I don’t take anything for granted anymore. I was so miserable for so long. Now that I’m not a Mrs. Negative Nelly anymore, I can take the time to see the small things as blessings.
These moments are just as important, if not more important, than anything else in my day.
I realize that my productivity and wellbeing increase when I take this time to myself. In the morning, I relish the first moment upon waking and at night, the last moment before going to bed where before I dreaded the day and the night that was to come. I always had too much to do.
Throughout the day, I listen to myself and take time when it is needed.
Today, I choose take time to enjoy the moment. This may mean taking time in the morning, throughout the day, or whenever I feel the need. I don’t do more than I can anymore. I have opened my heart to allow those around me to help me.
